We like to call it the capital of waterfalls. I tis on the Island of Flores that you can find the most beautiful waterfalls in the Azores and surrounding areas, but not only! The Island can be small, but its natural beauty is enormous. From lagoons, waterfalls, impressive natural phenomena, bathing áreas and unparalleled hospitality.

Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro

Also known as Poço da Alagoinha or Lagoa das Patas, this is probably the most emblematic and photographed place on the Island of Flores. Here we can witness the true beauty of nature, in a place formed by many breathtaking waterfalls. Here reigns the tranquility and silence, listening only the sounds of wind, birds and waterfalls. It’s a place not to be missed!

Rocha dos Bordões

Rocha dos Bordões is a set of rocky columns, about 20 meters high, a truly majestic phenomenon of nature. It was formed from the interior of a volcanic cone, having exposed its interior through erosion. The best place to observe Rocha dos Bordões is in the Miradouro da Rocha dos Bordões, near Mosteiro village.

Lagoa Rasa and Lagoa Funda

The view to these two lagoons is impressive! They can often be covered in fog, but when they are uncovered they are worth the visit. I tis possible to see the lagoons from above at the Miradouro da Lagoa fund and Rasa, or at the viewpoint next to them. Make sure to visit this place when you visit Flores Island.

Poço do Bacalhau Waterfall

The origin of the its name comes from the shadows createad on the rock. Located near Fajã Grande, this waterfall has over 100 meters high and is undoubtedly one of the attractions you must visit. The bravest ones venture to bathe in the icy water coming from the mountains. I tis very easy to get to this wonder of nature, don’t miss it!

Lagoa Negra and Lagoa Comprida

This is where you can see one of the most beautiful landscapes on the Island. Theses two lagoons are distinguished by their color, one greenish (Lagoa Negra) and one in a dark tone (Lagoa Comprida). You may think the names are mixed up, but they are just like that. Lagoa Negra is over 100 meters deep, and you can find a small waterfall in Lagoa Comprida.
